The Planning and Zoning Administrator coordinates the administrative activities of the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment. Also in this capacity, the Administrator interfaces directly with townspeople and other members of the community regarding planning and zoning issues. The Administrator is the Recording Secretary for both boards attending meetings, maintaining minutes and decisions rendered.

Planning Board Administration
The Planning and Zoning Administrator is available to answer planning questions to facilitate the processing of various applications. The Administrator is responsible for preliminary review of site plans and applications for subdivisions, lot line adjustments, voluntary lot mergers, change of use and waivers.
Sometimes the processes of the Planning Board activities and applications may seem daunting or complicated. The Planning and Zoning Administrator is dedicated to improving communication with the public and maintaining an efficient method for conducting the business of the Planning Board. The focus is to educate, inform and assist the public and continually improve the system so that it works efficiently and cooperatively.
The Planning Board regularly meets once a month, on the first (1st) Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall, 231 Atlantic Avenue. The Planning and Zoning Administrator will accept completed applications by the date listed on the Planning Board Schedule for the following month’s meeting. If possible, it is best to submit the application before the deadline date. If additional information is required to complete your application, you will have ample time to gather and provide the information.
Additionally the Planning Board holds monthly work session meetings, regularly scheduled for the third (3rd) Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall, 231 Atlantic Avenue. Notices for these meetings are posted in the Library, Town Clerk's Office and Town Office. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend all meetings.
Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) Administration
In this capacity, the Planning and Zoning Administrator is available to answer zoning questions and to facilitate the processing of various applications. The administrator is responsible for preliminary review of all “Application for Relief”submissions including (a) Appeal from a Decision of an Administrative Officer, (b) Appeal from a Decision of an Administrative Officer – Variance, (c) Request for Special Exception, (d) Request for Equitable Waiver, and (e) Other [an example of which would be “Re-Hearing,” etc.].
The Planning and Zoning Administrator will assist you by answering your questions in regard to options available to you as well as your responsibilities when submitting an “Application For Relief.” The Zoning Board of Adjustment/ZBA regularly meets once a month, on the fourth (4th) Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall, 231 Atlantic Avenue.
Completed applications are accepted by the last day of each month for the following month’s Board meeting. If possible, it is best to submit your application before the last day of the month. Then if additional information is required to complete your application, you will have ample time to provide the information to the Administrator.
