To the Citizens of North Hampton:
Officer Peter Cormier, a 18 year veteran of the North Hampton Police Department, died on Saturday, October 3, 2015 of a heart attack. His funeral will be on Friday, October 9, 2015.
Law enforcement officers from around the State will escort Pete’s body from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home in Hampton to St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dover Point. The plan is to leave the funeral home at or about 11 am. The route will begin in Hampton and follow Mill Road into North Hampton. The procession will turn on to Atlantic Avenue, and pass by the Police Department. The North Hampton Fire Department will have a flag across Atlantic Avenue.
Members of the public are invited to witness the procession and to pay their respects along Atlantic Avenue or in front of the Police Department. Citizens who live along the route may wish to display the U.S. Flag as a sign of respect. We anticipate that the procession will arrive at the Town Campus sometime around 11:15, but this is just an estimate and mourners should be at the Town Campus no later than 11 am.
The procession will then move along Atlantic Avenue, cross Route 1, and westward on Route 111 to Route 101 in Stratham; and then northward on I-95 and the Spalding Turnpike to Dover Point. Citizens who live or who have business along the procession route should anticipate minor delays, as intersections will be closed as the procession passes. Motorists in the procession area are encouraged to pull off to the side of the road and wait until the procession passes. In any event, Citizens should follow the direction of law enforcement personnel on the scene.
The Town Offices will be closed on Thursday at Noon and Friday at 10 am so that employees can attend the wake and the funeral. The public wake is from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday evening at Remick & Gendron, 811 Lafayette Road, in Hampton. If you would like to make a donation to support Officer Cormier’s family, the family has set up a GoFundMe page, at www.gofundme.com/petecormier.
On behalf of the Select Board and the Town’s employees, may Officer Cormier rest in peace; and I thank his family for the many years of faithful service given to the Town of North Hampton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.gofundme.com/petecormier or checks may be made out to Shelby Cormier c/o Kennebunk Savings, 701A Central Avenue, Dover, NH 03820.
