MOTOWN + THE SOUND OF PHILADELPHIA + BACHARACH  

The 60s and 70s were marked by two major events that had a spectacular impact on popular music extending into today.  The founding of Motown Records in the early 60s by Berry Gordy, followed by the entry of Philadelphia International Records created by producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff in 1971.  In the 60s, Motown enjoyed 79 Top Ten Records in the Billboard Hot 100, with hits from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and The Four Tops.  Gamble & Huff produced hits like ‘Love Train’ by the O’Jays, ‘Me and Mrs. Jones’ by Billy Paul, ‘If You Don’t Know Me by Now’ by Teddy Pendergrass and the Soul Train Theme TSOP.  In addition   the same decades   saw great Bacharach songs like Say A Little Prayer, Walk On By and Look Of Love  Wendy  . Nottonson   and Rico Barr present their interpretations of these great songs that will never be forgotten.

Rico Barr has performed in diverse settings including jazz and show bands, as well as backing up rock legend, Chuck Berry, playing with Harvey Brooks of The Electric Flag and jazz great, Joe Newman. Rico has written over 300 songs and scored a top forty dance club hit with Forbidden Love. The song appears on CMJ Volume 16 with the Neville Brothers. He is leader of the Jump 'n' Jive Review, and was nominated as swing vocalist of the year by the National Swing Awards.

Wendy Nottonson is admired for her strong sense of timing and phrasing, and her vocal agility. She began singing in various vocal harmony groups at age 13 and has toured throughout New England and internationally. As a Jazz soloist, Nottonson has performed with a long list of musicians.  She was jam session host for 11 consecutive years the Acton Jazz Cafe and produced her CD, "Lover Man". Nottonson covers R&B, Pop and Blues favorites that stand the test of time
