Emergency Management

The North Hampton Emergency Management Organization (EMO) establishes policy, plans and procedures to insure the safety of the citizens of North Hampton in the event of a large-scale emergency. This includes adequate inventories of emergency management supplies, and training staff in their roles in the Towns Emergency Management Team. The mission of the EMO has expanded recently as we prepare for potential pandemics and other large scale public health emergencies, working cooperatively with the Health, Police, Public Works, and School departments.

Emergency Planning for Residents, Business Owners, and Workers:
Families, business owners, and workers can make emergencies less stressful by preparing in advance and working together as a team. Protect yourself, your family, your business, and your employees by making an emergency plan. This should include how you will contact one another and what special steps you will take in different types of emergency situations. Additional preparation includes making an emergency kit and staying informed of local emergencies in our area. The following link provides tools and resources to take action.

Emergency Operations Plan:
North Hampton’s Local Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) establishes a framework for our local government and partners to provide assistance in an expeditious manner in event of a perceived, potential or actual disaster or emergency. The purpose of the EOP is to provide strategic and operational guidance aimed at facilitating the delivery of all types of local emergency management assistance to the residents, businesses, and visitors of North Hampton and others with whom we have mutual aid agreements in place, and to help reduce the consequences of disasters and emergencies. This Plan outlines the planning assumptions, policies, concept of operations, organizational structures and the roles and responsibilities of all  those involved in coordinating federal, regional, state and local activities.

Hazard Mitigation Planning:
Hazard Mitigation Planning affords North Hampton and other communities, the opportunity to lay the foundation for mitigation within a plan that identifies long term strategies to reduce, or eliminate future risk from natural hazards. The planning process is as important as the plan itself. It creates a framework for risk-based decision making to reduce damages to lives, property, and the economy from future disasters. Hazard mitigation planning forms the basis for a community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage.
