Elderly Tax Exemption, Veteran's Credit, Disabled Exemption Information

The deadline for Elderly Exemption and Veteran's Credit Applications is April 15th for any property owner applying for the first time. The allowed exemption and/or credit is then applied to the current year's tax bill. Residents receiving these benefits DO NOT NEED to apply each year. Elderly residents are encouraged to contact us when a birthday would allow for an increase in the exemption amount (see guidelines below).

General guidelines for Elderly Exemption: applicants must be 65 by April 1st and must have resided in New Hampshire for at least three consecutive years preceding April 1st. The property must be the principal residence, owned by either the applicant or the applicant's spouse, and the couple must be married for at least five years. The Elderly Exemption income and asset limitations are as follows: Single $40,800; Married $59,000. Assets are limited to $190,000 (The principal residence is NOT included in the asset listing).
